  • Primo Marella Gallery Milano is pleased to announce Per volare serve l’aria, a solo exhibition by Italian artist Daniele Di Girolamo, marking his first presentation with the gallery.

     

    Per volare serve l’aria is an exhibition project that takes air as its guiding element.

    Throughout the exhibition, each work is either shaped by or permeated by the aerial element, which informs its forms and takes on ever-changing variations. The exhibition traces a series of correspondences between processes in the natural world and the human experience of time, transformation, and connection, creating a mirrored dialogue between the behavior of matter and our own lived experience.

    Born in Pescara, Italy, (1995), Daniele Di Girolamo lives and works between Pescara and Malmö, Sweden.

     

    His recent solo exhibitions include Misure di una Distanza, curated by Niccolò Giacomazzi at Spazio Supernova, Rome (2024); Cose bellissime che si dissolvono (un incontro), curated by Saverio Verini at Palazzo Collicola, Spoleto (2024); Beautiful Things Fading Away, with tutor Alejandro Cesarco at Gallery KHM2, Malmö (2023); Correct Ways to Misunderstand, curated by Leonardo Regano at Traffic Gallery, Bergamo (2022); Sky Above, Sea Below, a collaborative project with Manrico Pacenti at Gallleriapiù, Bologna (2019); and Trasformazioni silenziose, curated by Ivan D’Alberto at YAG Gallery, Pescara (2018).

    is selected group exhibitions include Beröringspunkter and Skulptur Projekte 3.0 in Stockholm, Where Things Give Way in Hong Kong, Silenzio Sognato at Traffic Gallery in Bergamo, La tempesta nel bicchiere at Galleria Francesca Antonini in Rome, Materia Sonora at the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid, and L’Oro Blu at the Museo dei Bronzi Dorati in Pergola. His work has also been presented at the Museo dei Bagni di Diocleziano in Rome, Titanikas Gallery in Vilnius, Castello di Pagazzano, and The Lebanese University in Beirut.

     

    His awards and grants include the Premio Ines e Ettore Fico at Artissima, Turin (2024), a One Year Working Grant from the Swedish Arts Grants Committee, the Rotaract and Andrea Sapone Prize at Arte Fiera, Bologna, the Jubelfonden Scholarship in Malmö (2023), and the Eva och Hugo Bergmans Fond (2022). He also received the Young Art Award from Giovani Imprenditori di Confindustria Emilia (2020) and a Special Mention at Art Up – Premio della Critica e del Collezionismo in Bologna (2019).

     

    His work and practice have been featured in publications including Treccani’s Quaderni d’arte italiana, Annuario d’arte italiana, Artribune, Inside Art, Fortune Italia, and Il Giornale dell’Arte. In 2023 he was included in Quaderni d’arte italiana Vol. 6: Futuro, curated by Gian Maria Tosatti and published by Treccani and Fondazione La Quadriennale di Roma.
