Nato nel 1968 in Kaiyuan, nella provincia cinese di Yunnan, He Sen si è laureato alla Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts e attualmente vive e lavora a Pechino. Ha iniziato la sua carriera d'artista negli anni '90, maggiormente in Cina. Dal 2003 in avanti ha iniziato a partecipare a mostre personali come “Women’s Portraits” (2000) alla Beijing’s Red Gate Gallery, “Out of the Red” (2003) presso Primo Marella Gallery a Milano, “Come Together” (2008) alla Tilton Gallery di New York e “Pure Views” (2013) al Japanese Fukuoka Museum.
