Tegene Kunbi protagonista su Il Giornale dell’Arte: focus sul progetto per la Biennale di Venezia

A focus on the Ethiopia Pavilion and an artistic exploration of silence as a cultural and political language
Ethiopian artist Tegene Kunbi has been featured in a recent article published by Il Giornale dell’Arte, highlighting his exhibition project for the Venice Biennale Arte 2026, titled Shapes of Silence.

The article, titled "The Venice Biennale pavilion where silence speaks” focuses on Kunbi’s role as the representative of the Ethiopia Pavilion.
His project, “Shapes of Silence, – curated by Abebaw Ayalew and Yohaness Mulat Mekonnen serving as Curatorial Assistant – explores silence as a complex social and political condition within Ethiopian culture, not as absence but as a layered and meaningful presence.
Through a combination of painting, textiles, and material assemblage, Kunbi develops a rich visual language addressing memory, identity, and cultural tension. The pavilion aims not only to narrate but to question the very conditions under which narratives are formed.

This feature marks an important milestone in the artist’s career, reinforcing his growing international recognition within the contemporary art scene
