Ruben Pang

Ruben Pang

born in 1990 in Singapore (Singapore)

"If the whole complex lives of many people go on unconsciously, then such lives are as if they had never been." Victor Šklovskij

Pang's works play with the movement and smoothness of the surface. Pang is an artist who does not approach the metallic surface with an already accurate picture of how the work will be. Through the use of hands and other instruments, he extends the paint and the alkyl-resin on the aluminum. The technique used to spread the color does not aim to make a dough or to give a sense of three-dimensionality, but rather the color and the representation help to unfold the images.

He is a 2010 Fine Art graduate from the LASALLE College of the Arts. Amongst his awards, he received the prominent Georgette Chen Arts Scholarship, the Winston Oh Travelogue Award and earned a place as a finalist for the Sovereign Asian Art Prize 2010 and 2011. The Singapore Art Museum (SAM) featured his works in “The Singapore Show: Future Proof” exhibition, in which he was identified as a rising star of Singapore contemporary art scene.
